STORAGE

*  Do not pre-load BurnSafes, if pre-loaded, the munition’s oxidizers can escape

the canister and pose a flash fire hazard.  Wait to load BurnSafe at the target.

* Placing Burnsafes in individual plastic bags/containers helps protect hands from incidental contact with chemical agent residue

* Remove BurnSafes from plastic bags/containers when ready to deploy

* Replace plastic bags after each use

* Store BurnSafes in external vehicle/storage areas

DEPLOYMENT

* Put on your gas mask

*Wear protective clothing, gloves, helmet and eye protection

* Remove from plastic storage bag/container

* Ensure the bouchon, BurnSafe cap and CS canister assemblies are firmly secured to each other and to the BurnSafe bodies

* Prep then pull-pin

* Ensure spoon activates and CS canister ignites - smoke flows from ports

* Deploy

INSPECTION/CLEANING

* BurnSafes MUST be inspected before and after each deployment

* BurnSafes MUST be cleaned thoroughly after each deployment

* Latex gloves are recommended when handling BurnSafes for inspection and cleaning

* Clean in a well ventilated area

* Unscrew cap from body

* Unscrew CS canister from cap and discard

* Use a wire-brush, detergent and warm water to clean the tar-like residue out - do not use  any solvents or chemicals that are flammable like WD-40

* Ensure the ports are clear of residue and any obstructions

* The Lantern utilizes a channel at the base and ports in the body to allow the CS gas to vent - ensure the channel / ports are clear

*We recommend UNSMOKE DEGREASE-ALL by Jon-Don for cleaning

GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS

*DO NOT USE "SMOKE GRENADES" - Smoke grenades use a different chemical formula to produce smoke with a substantial increase in flame and heat which is significantly different than the formula / process used by CS Grenades

* Ensure CS canisters are current - check dates on canisters to make sure they have not expired

* BurnSafes can be reloaded during tactical operations, however, ensure that the ports are clear

* Adequate safety precautions should be in place prior to use such as fire extinguishers, etc.

BurnSafe Instructions

* * * UPDATE * * *

It is IMPERATIVE that Burnsafes are NEVER PRE-LOADED.

WAIT TO LOAD Burnsafe AT THE TARGET when you are ready to deploy it.  If pre-loaded, the munition's oxidizers can escape the canister and pose a flash fire hazard.

DO NOT USE THE DEFENSE TECHNOLOGIES SPEDE-HEAT 1072 DUE TO PROLONGED AND EXTREME HEAT, WE RECOMMEND INSTEAD THE # 1082 RIOT GRENADE.

DO NOT USE OC PEPPER GAS AS IT IS HIGHLY FLAMMABLE

ALL BURNSAFES ARE VERY HOT AFTER USE, HANDLE WITH EXTREME CAUTION!
